Hey fellow traveler,

We’re Eugene & Lisette, a travel-obsessed couple whose journey started on King’s Day (then Queen’s Day) in Amsterdam back in 2004. Since that day, travel has been at the heart of our lives. From our first European adventures to exploring far-off destinations like the USA, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and South Africa, we’ve embraced every moment on the road.

In 2019, we became parents to our daughter Celina, and soon after, Katie joined our crew. But becoming a family didn’t slow us down—it just made our adventures even more meaningful. From flying with a newborn to road-tripping across New Zealand and experiencing Africa as a family of four, we’ve learned how to make travel work at every stage of life.

Through our journeys, we kept meeting fellow travelers looking for personalized, easy-to-use travel guides—something to help them plan without the stress. That’s why we created BackpackingOnWheels! Our Etsy shop is filled with editable travel templates and city guides that let you customize your itinerary, add personal notes, and plan smarter—without the hassle of starting from scratch.

Why the name BackpackingOnWheels?

The name comes from the Dutch phrase Backpacken op wieltjes, and here’s the twist—we’ve never actually traveled with backpacks! We roll through airports and cities with suitcases on wheels, always choosing comfort and ease over heavy loads. It’s a fun, ironic take on our travel style—exploring freely, but always with wheels! 🚀
